Day 34 - Woodpeckers
Yesterday the sound of woodpeckers hammering on hollow wood echoed through the forest but today there was only silence. The woodpeckers were probably beginning the long and arduous task of preparing their nests ready for spring or else intent on dislodging insects from cracks in the bark. As winter moves into February the thaw continues for the moment and the still grey mist that had enveloped the plateau yesterday has dispersed leaving us with intermittent sunshine and a mild 7 degrees.
