Day 39 - Pforzheim
It's a drab grey day. I take the colourfully painted S6 train from Bad Wildbad to Pforzheim. The artwork is by James Rizzi and a fine example of what can be done to brighten up travelling especially on such a dismal day. Flanked by Black Forest pines the train weaves its way through the scenic Enz valley following the river.
.
Pforzheim is the nearest 'city' to Bad Wildbad (40 minutes on the S-Bahn) and famous for its jewellery industry. It was almost completely destroyed in 1945 but is now once again a thriving gateway to the Black Forest. The Rassler memorial commemorates the Jewellery workers who walked into Pforzheim from out lying villages.
