Day 119 - Biker

Another warm sunny day and I spot this creature hurtling downhill. Often seen during spring but difficult to photograph due to its rapid descend, it can easily be identified by the noise of churning gravel preceding its appearance. They come in a variety of bright colours and patterns combined with plenty of matt black components. Normally a biker is pretty harmless and can be approached when stationary but they are best avoided when in full flight. They can also leave a dust cloud in their wake depending on the conditions so it is best to remain at a safe distance. Curiously they come in two parts (hence Bi-ker) the top half can detach itself and walk away leaving the lower part temporarily helpless and immobile. This is particularly advantageous should the lower part sustain irreparable damage due to an accident, as limping home is still an option.
