Day 120 - Auerhahn

Finally I complete my Auerhahn (Capercaille) sculpture. It is a trial papermache version for what will hopefully eventually be a much larger soil/cement sculpture. The windy day makes photographing difficult as the fantail acts like a sail and with each gust it attempts to take off. Eventually it did lift-off damaging its beak so I had to cut short the photo session. At least it gave me the opportunity to see it outside; very important with models as daylight and scenery make a big difference. It looks rather small outside but any bigger and I would have had problems getting it through the studio doors. The larger version will have to be made up of smaller components that somehow lock together.
