Day 166 - Auerhahn III

Golden Eagle or Capercaille?

The last week has seen daily thunderstorms bringing heavy rain and occasional hail. I resign myself to staying indoors and concentrate on the clay version of the Auerhahn. It is certainly more satisfying working with clay rather than cement or papiermache and much quicker. I hope to have the form complete inside a week and will then paint it with slip before leaving it to dry for several weeks. Its interesting to see how the birds character and shape changes depending on the medium used.
