Day 208 - Bergbahn race

The last few hundred steps to the top

It’s the second annual Bergbahn race where runners ascend the 300 metres from Bad Wildbad to Sommerberg using the bergbahn service stairs. A gradient of 52% near the top makes for a gruelling ascent and many runners are left walking the final section. The event starts with a children’s race which uses a slightly shorter course finishing lower down. How many steps there are to the top, who won and in what time will be posted in due course hopefully.
