Day 260 - Rock

Sandstone

There are large blocks of sandstone scattered throughout the Black Forest often roughly cubic in shape and well weathered. I sometimes wonder about their origins as the symmetry of some blocks suggests man could have formed them. I inspect the surfaces regularly in the hope of finding something interesting such as a sea fossil or marks caused by tools but up till now I have been unable to identify anything remotely unusual. A short course in geology would probably help and make my search more interesting.
