Day 267 - Auerhahn saga

The remains of Auerhahn 2 fantail

An update for anyone following the auerhahn saga: Auerhahn 2 finally bites the dust. Working with cement proved more problematic than I had expected and the end results were very disappointing. The material is also unpleasant to work with and requires much in the way of armatures to give it any strength. It now resides in my dustbin. The wings of Auerhahn 3 (ceramic version) have undergone test firing and amazingly came out in one piece (well, two actually), the colouring and glazing however left something to be desired. The rest of the pieces have now been painted and are ready for firing. Maybe in a week or two I will put the finished results up on the blog. Watch this space.
