Enough to fill a basket

So we reach the final quarter of 2007. Pursuing my present obsession with spider’s webs here is another, which strangely reminds me of a bat in flight. Although there is a distinct lack of fungi so far this year some do manage to make up for that in size like the one above which even doubled up as a birdbath. I come upon the first Common Puffball (Lycoperdon perlatum) in its edible early stages but I have yet to try them in my mushroom soup. Last year the Puffball fungi were everywhere and as far as I can remember appeared much earlier.
